Guiding & Mountain Instruction

I guide and teach across a range of mountain disciplines, combining my background as a professional skier, avalanche educator, and outdoor leader to help people build skills, confidence, and community in alpine environments. I currently work as a guide with Apex Mountain School, where I support ski touring, intro-to-backcountry programs, avalanche education, and alpine skills clinics. My approach blends technical instruction with movement-based coaching, decision-making frameworks, and an emphasis on creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

 

This year, I am one of the two Colorado Regional Mentors for the AIARE Professional Growth Network. I am super excited for this opportunity and hope to provide ample resources to my mentees and the community this winter! Please reach out if you are interested in this program!

Additionally, I volunteer mainly with Backcountry Beauties, an organization that shares my passion for expanding access to mountain sports.  I help run community-focused clinics, mentor new backcountry users, and support youth and adult athletes in developing foundational skills that make mountain environments feel less intimidating and more empowering. I love working with people who are stepping into the outdoors for the first time, as well as athletes who are refining their technique, risk management, or leadership style.

 

My guiding philosophy centers on building competence and confidence through education. Whether I’m teaching beacon skills, coaching efficient travel and transitions, helping someone navigate steep snow for the first time, or simply showing them that they belong in the mountains, my goal is always the same: create transformative learning experiences rooted in safety, skill development, and joy.
