About Me

Welcome to dtalpine
Welcome to dtalpine, the platform dedicated to sharing the adventures and insights of a professional mountain athlete and content creator. This is where I share my experiences, thoughts, and expertise in outdoor content and neuroscience topics. Here, you'll find a glimpse into my world, from blog posts for Outdoor Prolink to articles on various platforms. I'm also excited to share my research and publications as a PhD candidate.
Stay tuned for updates on prints of some of my outdoor photography.
So who am I? I am a neurobiology graduate student at the University of Wyoming studying aging and the neural circuitry underlying nocturia. My academic interests also span to human physiology, athletics, cancer, geology, and snow science. My long term goal would be to have my own lab investigating the female athlete in terms of aging, biomechanics, and neural circuitry!
Beyond academia, I am a professional skier with about a decade on the FIS alpine circuit under my belt. While I am retired from alpine racing, I am a pace setter and the head coach & director of Team Snowy! I hope to instill my love of skiing and competing in the next generation, while combining science to increase my athletes' performance to their full potential. I currently ski for the University of Wyoming Nordic team as well as sporadically compete on the IFSA freeride circuit!
I currently guide for Apex Mountain School, mainly teaching AIARE courses! I look forward to expanding my role here and possibly creating some women's programming! Additionally, I am one of the two Colorado Regional Mentors for the AIARE Professional Growth Network (PGN). I also work with Backcountry Beauties to help create a greater community of badass women in the outdoors! If you are interested in buiding your backcountry skills checkout our Backcountry Skills Builder and use code "" for.
